Callie Hatchett is a New York City based dancer, choreographer, teacher, and curator. Callie grew up in Alabama studying Vaganova based ballet, under the direction of Meryane Martin Murphy. From her first pirouette, she was hooked. Later, as a teenager, Callie developed a new artistic love when she discovered the freedom and expressive power of modern dance.
Callie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance from The University of Alabama and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She also holds a holds a Master of Science degree in Education and Special Education from Touro College. She is a certified Pilates instructor through the Pilates Certification Center.
Callie has had the pleasure of performing for Southern Danceworks, Andalusia Ballet, Deborah Jowitt, Cherylyn Lavagnino, Sydney Skybetter, Wes Veldink, Thaddeus Davis, and the Charles Weidman Foundation. She has taught for Hunter College, Brooklyn College Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts, Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, Alabama State University, Montgomery Ballet, Andalusia Ballet, The Harlem Dance Leadership Program, Future Dancers and Dancemakers, The Legacy School, Success Academy Charter Schools and Dancewave. She has presented her choreography at Dancenow’s RAW Festival, Dixon Place, Music and Motion, Composer’s Voice, Jennifer Muller/The Works Hatch Series, Fertile Ground, Amalgamate Artist Series, Westfest, the Bessie Schonberg Choreography Intensive, and for Andalusia Ballet.
Callie currently teaches for Chrystie Street Ballet Academy and is a teaching artist for New York City Ballet, Mark DeGarmo Dance and Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance.
